Meaning of Zahraa
Zahraa is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means pure white, like a pearl. It also means brilliant and radiant. It is derived from the Z-H-R which is used once in the Quran to mean splendor:
And never turn thine, eyes [with longing] towards whatever splendor of this world’s life We may have allowed so many others to enjoy in order that We might test them thereby: for the sustenance which thy Lord provides [for thee] is better and more enduring. (Quran 20:131)
Zahraa is also a nickname for Fatima, may Allah be pleased with her, daughter of Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings upon him, mostly according to the Shi’a, but the nickname is also mentioned in some late Sunni sources, though it is not mentioned in any of the early books.
